Delivery Policy

At Theodore Alexander, we aim to make delivery as smooth and transparent as possible. This Delivery Policy explains how orders are processed, shipped, scheduled, and delivered.

Free shipping

Theodore Alexander offers free shipping on all orders. Free shipping applies to eligible delivery addresses within Theodore Alexander s standard service areas.

Delivery availability may vary depending on the product, order type and delivery ZIP code. Certain remote, restricted or non-standard delivery locations may require additional review before delivery can be confirmed.

Delivery services

Theodore Alexander may offer one or more of the following delivery services, depending on the item and delivery location:

  • Standard Delivery — to the main entrance, doorstep, lobby or first dry area accessible to the carrier, as applicable.
  • Room of Choice — delivery to the room selected by the customer, provided there is safe and reasonable access.
  • White Glove — delivery to the room of choice, unpacking, light assembly of eligible furniture, and removal of packaging materials.

Delivery lead times

Delivery timeframes vary by destination region (shipped from our North Carolina warehouse). Estimated delivery lead times are as follows:

  • To the East — 5–10 business days
  • To the Mid-West — 7–12 business days
  • To the West — 10–14 business days

These delivery lead times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Actual delivery timing may vary based on product availability, order processing, carrier scheduling, delivery conditions and schedule, and other factors beyond Theodore Alexander s reasonable control.

Delivery availability

Theodore Alexander currently delivers to eligible service areas within the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Delivery availability may vary based on the item, shipment method and final destination.

We reserve the right to limit or decline delivery to locations outside standard service coverage, or that present access, safety or operational constraints.

Order processing

Orders are subject to acceptance, verification and processing before shipment. Processing time may vary depending on product availability, payment confirmation, order volume and operational requirements.

Orders containing multiple items, or items not currently in stock, may be processed and shipped separately.

Split shipments

Orders containing more than one item may arrive in multiple shipments. This may occur when orders have different lead times or require production time.

Customers may request to split shipments to complete delivery as efficiently as possible, or pay to arrange full shipment coordination beforehand.

Delivery scheduling

For orders requiring scheduled delivery, Theodore Alexander or our delivery partner will contact you using the information provided at checkout. Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate delivery contact information
  • Responding promptly to scheduling communications
  • Ensuring an adult aged 18 or older is available to accept delivery

If Theodore Alexander is unable to contact the customer after reasonable attempts, shipment or delivery may be delayed until scheduling is completed.

Customer responsibilities

Before placing an order, customers are responsible for confirming that:

  1. The ordered item will fit through all entryways, hallways, staircases, elevators and door frames;
  2. The intended room has adequate space for the item;
  3. The delivery path is safe and accessible; and
  4. Any building, concierge, loading dock, elevator reservation, parking access or certificate of insurance requirements are arranged in advance, where applicable.

Theodore Alexander is not responsible for failed or incomplete delivery caused by access restrictions, inaccurate measurements, building rules or unsafe delivery conditions at the delivery location.

Delivery day requirements

On the day of delivery:

  • An adult aged 18 or older must be present to accept the delivery;
  • The delivery area must be clear and accessible; and
  • Any obstacles, existing furniture or other items that may interfere with delivery should be removed in advance.

For safety reasons, customers should ensure that children and pets are kept away from the delivery area during the delivery process. Unless expressly confirmed otherwise in writing, Theodore Alexander delivery teams are not required to move existing furniture or remove old items from the premises.

Assembly & installation limitations

Where White Glove Delivery is provided, Theodore Alexander may include unpacking, placement and light assembly of eligible items. Unless expressly stated otherwise, delivery services do not include:

  • Electrical installation
  • Plumbing connection
  • Wall mounting
  • Hanging mirrors, artwork or lighting
  • Structural modification
  • Disposal, relocation or removal of existing household furniture

Theodore Alexander and its third-party carriers are not liable for any incidental damage to the customer’s property (including but not limited to scratched floors, dented walls or damaged door frames) occurring during the Room of Choice or White Glove delivery process. It is the customer’s strict responsibility to protect their floors and walls prior to the delivery team’s arrival.

Inspection upon delivery

Customers should inspect all delivered items as soon as reasonably possible upon receipt. If an item appears damaged, defective or incorrect upon delivery, the customer must:

  • Note the issue at delivery where possible;
  • Take clear photographs of the item, packaging and shipping label; and
  • Notify Theodore Alexander within 48 hours of delivery.

Claims reported after this period may be limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Delivery delays

Theodore Alexander will use reasonable efforts to meet estimated delivery timelines. However, delivery may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Weather conditions
  • Traffic or transportation disruptions
  • Carrier delays
  • Warehouse or inventory disruptions
  • Supply chain interruptions
  • Force majeure events
  • Customer unavailability or access-related issues

Theodore Alexander shall not be liable for delays resulting from such circumstances, but will make reasonable efforts to provide updates and support where possible.

Failed delivery & rescheduling

A delivery may be deemed unsuccessful if:

  • No eligible adult is present to accept delivery;
  • The customer fails to respond to scheduling requests;
  • The delivery location is inaccessible;
  • The item cannot be delivered safely; or
  • Required building or access arrangements have not been secured in advance.

In such cases of failed delivery due to customer unavailability, inaccurate dimensions or access restrictions, Theodore Alexander may reschedule the delivery at its discretion. However, the customer will be strictly responsible for a $150 re-delivery fee (or the actual third-party carrier quote, whichever is higher).

If the customer fails to reschedule or pay the re-delivery fee within seven (7) calendar days, the order will be treated as a customer-remorse cancellation, subject to the 30% restocking fee per our Return Policy.

Refused deliveries

If delivery is refused for reasons other than visible transit damage, verified defect or confirmed shipment error, the order will be treated in accordance with the Theodore Alexander Return Policy, including any applicable 30% restocking fee.

Title & risk of loss

Risk of loss passes to the customer upon completed delivery to the delivery location, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

If the customer authorises delivery without a signature or requests delivery to an unattended location, Theodore Alexander is not responsible for loss, theft or damage occurring after the item has been delivered.

Policy updates

Theodore Alexander reserves the right to amend, update or modify this Delivery Policy at any time. The version in effect at the time the order is placed will apply to that order unless otherwise required by law.
